Privacy
Your household's things are yours. Here's exactly what we keep, what stays on your phone, and who else touches it.
Who we are
Jarmer is made and run by Functioning Labs LLC, Boston, MA 02135. Questions about privacy go to privacy@jarmer.app.
What we keep
To run your household's Jarmer, our servers keep:
- Your account: the name you give, and the email or Apple sign-in you use (handled by Clerk, our sign-in provider).
- Your household's things: chores and tasks, lists, goals, routines, dates, decisions, the house manual and any photos you add to it, and what you capture.
- Your settings: time zone, quiet hours, how many notifications a day, and the like.
- What we sent you: each notification, when, and the one-sentence reason it went (so you can see it in Recent notifications).
- Your devices' push tokens, so notifications reach your phone.
What stays on your phone
- Locations and saved places. Only a place's name on a task is shared, never where you are.
- Apple Health data. Only that a goal was done today, and the amount, leaves your phone.
- Your calendar. Only a count of busy minutes is shared, to size tomorrow's plan.
- Dictation, and the text read from photos, run on your phone.
Who in your household sees what
People in your household see shared chores, lists and anything you share. Private tasks and personal goals are never sent to anyone else's phone. A mood journal, when it arrives, is yours alone.
AI help
When AI help is on (it's on by default and you can turn it off in Customize), the text needed for a job (a capture to sort, a task to break down, the week to draft a reset from) is sent to Anthropic's Claude through Vercel's AI Gateway, used to answer, and not used by us to train anything. Everything AI does in Jarmer is a suggestion or has Undo.
Who else handles it
Each of these does one job for us, under its own privacy terms:
- Clerk: sign-in.
- Neon: the database.
- Vercel: hosting, and the AI Gateway.
- Anthropic: AI help, when it's on.
- Apple: delivering notifications, and App Store purchases.
- RevenueCat and Stripe: subscriptions and payments, once paid plans launch. We never see your card details.
- Home Assistant, only if you connect it: the events you send, and a small status message to the address you choose.
What we never do
We don't sell data, show ads, or share your household's things with anyone who isn't doing a job for us listed above.
How long, and deleting it
We keep your household's data while you use Jarmer. Delete your account in the app (Me → Customize): you're removed from the household, and if you were the last one in it, the household and everything in it is deleted. Backups are kept for a limited time and then overwritten. To ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion, write to privacy@jarmer.app; we answer within thirty days.
